Underclass Spotlight - Fall Standouts (2025-2026)

Dan Jurik
Scouting Director - Pacific Northwest

Earlier this Fall we had the chance to gather a strong group of uncommitted '24, '25 and '26 prospects from WA and OR to compete against each other down at Goss Stadium on the campus of Oregon State University. The day kicked off with an indoor workout and then concluded with a controlled scrimmage.

PBR events events such as this provide players with the opportunity to build their profile with the most up-to-date information and video footage. All players in attendance receive an online profile with their verified statistics, player report, picture and video. Additionally, all subsequent stories written about a prospect will be linked to the player’s profile, ultimately creating a one-stop shop for recruiters.

Showcases help identify which prospects have asserted themselves towards the top of their class as well as who might be one of the next youngsters to emerge onto the scene. They also serve as potential identifiers for invite-only events such as our Future GamesJunior Future Games and West Coast Games

Here are notes on 4 standouts from the event to know about heading into 2022.

2025 + 2026 prospects

Dylan Mamiya OF / LHP / Kennewick, WA / 2026

Lean, wiry athlete with pound for pound strength at 5-foot-8, 150 lbs. Twitchy actions with impressive speed and burst. Offensively, starts with a wide base and alignment working towards pitcher. Gathers on back leg with a knee knock load. Hovers as he gets into forward move and lands soft. Short, quick movement with hands prior to launching swing. Quick, compact stroke into contact. Stays connected and produces sneaky pop for such a young prospect. Loose, easy barrel action through the zone with low effort bat speed. Defensively, profiles well to OF with his L/L skill-set. Smooth, easy strides while covering ground. Athletic footwork while getting around the ball and funneling in. Uses an inside shuffle to get momentum behind throws. Full arm path with a lower slot from the OF. On the mound, works exclusively out of the stretch with a simple delivery. Slight bend on his back side when he gets up to leg lift. Front knee drives up and back with coil into rear hip. Consistent stride length and landing. Moves very well through hips and up into core. Strong, mobile lower half. Braces up against front leg and gets extension at finish. Short arm action with slight stabbing action out of hand break. Releases from low ¾ slot with quick hand speed out front. Exciting 2-way player with potential to develop impact tools.

Lucas Petersen 3B / 1B / Capital , WA / 2025

Advanced frame and size at 6-foot-2, 190 lbs. Has shown quite a bit of physical maturation in a short span. High waisted athlete with long levers. At the plate, uses an open stance while staying tall and keeping upright posture. Closes off lower half with a leg lift and knee-knock load. Hands start near back shoulder then retract with a scap load as upper half shows inward turn into landing. Maintains a tall base during swing. Size, strength and swing path project well for future power. Defensively, handled duties at 3rd on this look and looks capable of settling there or at another corner spot down the road. Starts tall with a pre-pitch hop in his set up. Widens out with his base as ball approaches, using a solid hip hinge to get glove down. Will have to work harder as a taller defender to play low but showed quality actions and glove hand control on this look. Repeatable exchange at chest height. Full arm path into high ¾ release. Keeps momentum behind throw and works through the play.

Gabriel Pham SS / RHP / Juanita , WA / 2025

Lean, compact athlete at 5-foot-5, 140 lbs. Fluid runner with the potential to develop into a speed threat on the diamond. Offensively, starts with a simple, balanced set-up with a wide, narrowly open base. Relaxed hands that start even with rear shoulder and keep barrel in an upright position. Quick trigger load in upper half that syncs with short forward stride. Everything works short & quick to the ball. Solid feel for the barrel. Understands how to spray contact and shows a clean, level swing. Defensively, projects well to INF with footwork and actions. Light on his feet, especially while moving laterally. Keeps momentum behind the ball and plays low easily. Smooth glove hand and consistent exchange into throwing motion. Arm works easily with a short arm from low ¾ slot. Shows noticeable confidence when attacking the ball. On the mound, worked exclusively from the stretch on this look. Stays tall at leg lift while front knee drives up and back towards rear shoulder. Leads with hip then gets extension from glove side at hand break. Stride has some length for his height but he stays behind the ball and avoids lunging. Short, continuous arm action with ¾ release. Braces up well out front and keeps eyes on target through release. Overall, very sound actions and fluid movements on both sides of the ball for a young player.

Sonny Salazar 3B / RHP / Othello, WA / 2025

5-foot-11, 205 lbs with an advanced frame for his age and strength throughout. Powerful levers. Offensively, shows a mature feel for the barrel already with clean & repeatable actions. Hits from a tall, balanced set-up with a short & quiet forward move. Hands have a quick trigger into his swing and everything stays connected early. Works inside of the ball and maintains his posture at the point of contact. Produces hard contact with easy effort and has exciting power at a young age. Defensively, fits well at 3B with his size and arm strength. Steady, consistent footwork with a methodical tempo. Stays in his stance and lets ball travel to him. Soft glove hand while funneling in. Hands work easily on the exchange. Loose, clean throwing motion from ¾ release. On the mound, utilizes his strong lower half with a simple, repeatable delivery. Working at a steady pace, gathers on backside with a high leg lift and some coil action into his back hip. Shows some lead hip drive as he gets down the slope. Average stride length helps him keep everything on time. Moves well through his core as he gets into release and braces up against a strong front side. Tight, compact arm action that stays bent throughout. Balls shows heavy life out of hand. Overall, Salazar showed solid 2-way potential.
