Prep Baseball Report

Washington 2024 Rankings Update

Dan Jurik
Scouting Director - Pacific Northwest

The 2022 summer circuit has just about come to a close. It was a busy few months for our staff across multiple events ranging from the Pacific Northwest to Georgia and even into Las Vegas. With all that has transpired, it is an appropriate time to revisit the rankings. The 2024 class is starting to take shape with the top players continuing to cement themselves at the top while others begin to emerge as names to know.

Our updated and expanded list covers 100 names in the class that we’re high on heading into the Fall season.

Since its inception in 2005, the Prep Baseball Report has evolved into one of the country’s biggest and most respected independent scouting services, with a singular focus of providing comprehensive year-round coverage in every state we are in. The mission of the Prep Baseball Report is to scout and promote amateur baseball - high school, junior college and college - and, ultimately, help athletes achieve their dreams of playing baseball at the next level.

Rankings are based on evaluations by scouting director Dan Jurik as well as additional PBR scouts across the country who have seen prospects from the state at various events.

With a majority of the prospects on the list uncommitted, the goal is for this information to help assist  college coaches as they look to finalize their recruiting classes and add additional pieces to their roster.

top 3

Zach Swanson RHP / Toutle Lake, WA / 2024

‘24 RHP Zach Swanson (Toutle Lake/Oregon State commit) not only grabs the #1 spot in the state for the first time but also looks poised to be a big riser in the 2024 national rankings. Built as a durable starter at 6’3, 185 lbs. The physical right hander was up to 93 at Underclass Area Codes with a hammer CB at 76-79 and feel for a faded CH. A SS during the HS season, Swanson’s athleticism translates well to the bump and he should continue the trend of big arms coming out of the PNW.

Adam Haight SS / RHP / Cedar Park Christian , WA / 2024

Up to the #2 spot is SS/RHP Adam Haight (Cedar Park Christian/Oregon commit). Haight has been on the scene for a few years now as a smooth fielding SS with offensive upside. He’s always flashed clean actions & the arm strength has really made a jump as of late. On the mound, he was 88-90 at Underclass Area Codes with feel for a solid CB. Overall, the size and athleticism work well on the mound and there’s still projection for him to grow into

Grady Woodward OF / 2B / Eastlake , WA / 2024

‘24 OF Grady Woodward (Eastlake/Washington commit) lands at #3 in the latest update. The toolsy outfielder continues to flash an explosive barrel with impressive bat speed. His overall offensive game continues to add refinement and he’s also making productive strides in the OF with his defense.

risers

Emerson Fleck OF / RHP / Mead, WA / 2024

One of the top performers at the 2022 Future Games, uncommitted '24 OF/RHP Emerson Fleck (Mead) had a huge summer. As a position player, he profiles well to OF with his size, speed and arm. Offensively he’s a mature hitter with gap-to-gap power and a sound approach. On the mound, he really impressed with his easy actions and feel for the zone. Pitching in the upper 80s with 3 pitches for strikes, Fleck has the chance to consistently fill the stat sheet throughout 2023.

Caden Fahy SS / RHP / West Seattle, WA / 2024

‘24 SS Caden Fahy (West Seattle) started off the year strong with a standout performance at our Preseason ID in February and he hasn’t looked back since. After holding down SS duties all year for a talented West Seattle squad, he made his way over to Georgia for the Future Games and competed against some of the top 2024-2025 grads in the country. A field general out on the diamond, Fahy carries himself with noticeable confidence and is one of the top remaining position players on the board for the class.

newcomers

Christopher Parkin SS / 2B / Columbia River, WA / 2024

Uncommitted ‘24 SS Chris Parkin (Columbia River) was one of the top performers at our Central Washington Preseason ID and then went out and was named league MVP as a sophomore during the HS season. Strong & stocky at 6’0, 185 lbs. Parkin has a strong feel for the game and brings consistency to both sides of the ball. Offensively he has a tight, compact strong with powerful levers that produce consistent line drive contact.

Diego Trujillo RHP / 2B / Camas, WA / 2024

Uncommitted ‘24 RHP Diego Trujillo (Camas) jumped out during the HS playoffs with his relief performance against Puyallup. The talented righty came out firing FBs at 84-86 with ride/life in the top of the zone and consistently got swings and misses. Features a short, bent arm action that hides the ball well before getting out front and release with a loose, aggressive finish. Should play an even bigger role next season on what looks to be another strong Camas roster.

Kellen Colglazier RHP / OF / Stadium, WA / 2024

Uncommitted ‘24 OF/RHP Kellen Colglazier (Stadium) finished up his summer with a strong showing down at Ridgefield as a 2-way prospect. At 6’1, 175, he features lean strength throughout and has a chance to add more strength onto the frame. The arm talent stands out immediately, especially on the bump. He ran his FB up to 85 from a short, continuous arm path with an athletic finish. Has the chance to pop next year with a productive off-season.
