FHSAA Final Four Recap 

7A Semis

Stoneman Douglas takes down Hagerty behind a Jake Clemente complete game. Clemente finished with 10Ks allowing 1 hit and 1 run. 

Palm Beach Gardens defeats Plant 3-2. Enzo Vertucci (2 RBIs) and AJ Hunerberg (RBI) led the way for PBG. 

7A Championship

Stoneman Douglas vs. Palm Beach Gardens

2022 Chris Arroyo (Florida) took the mound for Douglas as they looked to defend their 2021 State Title. The LHP cruised through 5 innings striking out 7, while only allowing 2 hits. The scoring got started in the bottom of the 2nd when 2022 Florida Commit Jake Clemente went yard. Douglas opened the floodgates in the 3rd, scoring 5 runs on RBI hits from Santiago Ordonez (FSU), Roman Anthony (Ole Miss), and Jake Clemente (Florida). Uncommitted 2024 OF Alex Rodriguez stole home in the inning to push the lead to 6. The final daggers came in the 5th on a Roman Anthony sac fly and then Chris Arroyo ended the game on a 3-run walk-off homerun.  


6A Semis

Doral defeats Sickles 5-4 in a 9 inning affair.  Walk off single by Daniel Restrepo advances Doral to the finals.

Pace edges out Melbourne 2-1 behind Alex McCranie (2-3, RBI 2B) and Jackson McKenzie (2-3). 

6A Championship

Doral Academy vs. Pace 

The 6A championship featured the Firebirds of Doral Academy vs the Patriots of Pace. On the mound for Pace was 2022 RHP Walter Ford (Alabama). The Alabama commit worked a clean 1st two innings. The Firebirds got to Ford in the 3rd on a fielder's choice from 2023 SS Adrian Santana. For Doral, 2023 LHP Frank Menendez (Florida) took the ball. The LHP cruised through the 1st 4 innings not allowing a run. The excitement began in the 5th when Doral scored 4 runs, 3 of them came from a 3-run bomb by 2023 Daniel Restrepo (Uncommitted). Pace answered back with 3 runs of their own, a successful squeeze from 2022 Brent Cadenwood and a 2-RBI double from 2023 Alex McCranie. The lightning delay came in the 5th to help stifle the Pace momentum and rally. Down to their last out in the 7th, Pace had some heroics from 2022 Broc Parmer as he narrowly missed a game tying home run, settling for a RBI triple. With the tying run on 3rd and 2-outs, 2025 Miami commit Mikey Torres came into the game to record the final out and start the dogpile for Doral.


5A Semis

Jesuit defeats Naples 5-2 behind Wes Mendes (2-3 2RBI 2B) and Josh Hines (3-3 RBI).

Eau Gallie takes down Columbia 6-0. Garrett Smith went the distance striking out 12. Brandon Bragg finished 3-4 with 2 RBIs. 

5A Championship

Jesuit (Tampa) vs. Eau Gallie (Melbourne)

On the mound for Jesuit was 2023 Wes Mendes (Vandy) FB: 90-92 CB: 76-78 CH: 81-82. The LHP ended his outing in 6 ⅔ IP (removed due to pitch count rules), 11 Ks, 3 hits and 0R given up. The only real trouble Mendes got into was in the 5th when he walked the bases loaded then barred down and struck out the next 3 batters. Offensively the Tigers were led by AJ Nessler (Pitt) 2 RBIs and Josh Hines 2 RBI 2B. Grant Jordan added 2 hits of his own, along with hits from Carter French, Jalen Smith and Jacob Lozano. Eau Gallie had hits from Kyle Gruessner (1-3) and Daniel Snowden (2-3). 


4A Semis

Island Coast 9-2 over Suwannee. Kevin Martinez struck out 11 over 6 innings. Eddie-Boe Rodriguez (3-4 2RBI 2B). 

Jensen Beach narrowly defeats Dunedin 2-0. Chris Knier did it on both sides of the ball. Finishing with 7IP, 5Ks, 0R and 1-3 with a RBI 1B. 

4A Championship

Island Coast 8-7 over Jensen Beach

The 4A State Championship game featured tons of offense. The pitchers Jake Billings for Island Coast and Kyle Derrenbecker for Jensen Beach held their own for the 1st two innings. In the 3rd the Gators pushed across the game's first run which the Falcons quickly negated in the bottom half. Things blew open in the 5th behind a 2RBI single from Eddie-Boe Rodriguez and a HR from Jordi Guerrero. The Falcons of Jensen Beach came storming back in 6th when Matt Kautz cleared the bases on a 3 RBI double. The game headed to extra innings all knotted up at 7. Kevin Martinez (Flagler) gets the clutch RBI 1B top 8 to give Island Coast the lead. The Gators would hold on to win 8-7. 


3A Semis

Berkeley Prep advances 2-0 over The Villages Charter. JT Quinn goes the distance allowing just 4 hits and striking out 5. 

North Broward Prep edges out Cardinal Newman 1-0. Yoel Tejeda strikes out 8 over 6 ⅔. Jonathan Xuerub records the final out to send NBP to the championship. 

3A Championship

North Broward Prep 5-3 over Berkeley Prep

2025 LHP Rivers Kurland got the ball for Berkeley Prep and the freshman gave it everything he had. Finishing with 6Ks over 6 innings.  Opposing Kurland was Ryan McPherson (Mississippi State). The RHP finished his day giving up 3R over 4IP. Jonathon Xuereb once again came in relief for NBP fanning 3 over the last 3 innings allowing 0 runs. Xuereb showed his two-way prowess by adding 2 doubles. Offensively Anthony Castillo led the way for Berkeley Prep with 2 hits. Florida commit Cade Kurland added a homerun. 6 other Buccaneers had hits. Despite being out-hit 8-5 NBP found a way to win with hits in key moments. 


2A Semis 

Miami Christian defeats Foundation Academy 4-2. 5 Shutout innings from Chris Diaz. Braden Holcomb goes yard for Foundation but isn’t quite enough to top Miami Christian. 

North Florida Christian defeats Out-of-Door Academy 5-2. Josh Schuchts led the way offensively for NFC scoring twice. 

2A Championship

Miami Christian 4-1 over North Florida Christian

Miami Christian sent out 2022 RHP Henry Martinez (FIU). Martinez struggled a bit with command but the athletic righty was up to 94 on the day. Offensively the Victors were led by Jeter Polledo (Wake Forest) and Bryant Zayas (NC State). Garret Workman gave it all he had for North Florida Christian giving up 4 unearned runs over 6 innings. Aiden Butler got things going for NFC with an RBI 1B. Relievers David Bosque and Jameson Caro finished the game for Miami Christian. 


1A Semis

Bozeman defeats Dixie County 8-4. Both Jeremy Todd and Byron McLain went 3-4 and McLain also had 4 RBIs. 

Holmes County 4-1 over Fort White. Sheldon Sparks went 3-3 with a 2B. Landon Lumpkin goes 6 ⅔ with 6Ks. 

1A Championship

Holmes County 3-1 over Bozeman

Derrick Hancock gave it all he had for the Bucks in the championship game, going 6 ⅔ with 8Ks giving up 2 earned runs. The Blue Devils of Holmes County trotted out Colby Jones, he went the distance striking out 10 and only giving up 1 run. Tucker Faircloth led the way offensively for the Blue Devils going 1-3 with 2 RBIs. Bozeman threatened in the game but ultimately fell short.
