Risers

No. 4 Berkeley Prep

Berkeley is off to a red hot start in 2022 going 13-0 through the first 5 weeks. The Bucs are outscoring opponents 111 to 31 and have wins over big time opponents like Jesuit, Bartram Trail, Clay, and Lakeland. Seniors Cade Kurland, Gunnett Carlson, and Anthony Castillo have led the way on offense with Kurland hitting 7 homeruns so far. On the mound, JT Quinn has been dominant allowing just 2 runs over 23.2 innings.

No. 18 Sickles

Sickles continues to impress in 2022. They cracked the Power25 last week and now jump up to No. 18 this week. 12-1 so far this season. Junior Caden McDonald has been on a tear offensively batting .730 over 42 plate appearances with 5 homeruns and 24 RBI. 2024 Thomas Bly has hit .500 so far with 18 RBI. McDonald and Bly also lead the team in innings on the mound and have allowed just 8 runs over 41.2 innings combined.

Fallers

No. 16 Wharton

Wharton has fallen off a bit with back to back weeks with a loss. Now sitting 9-3 following losses to Plant and Durant. The Wildcats have one of the best 1-2 punches on the mound in the state that can lead them to a deep playoff run. Expect the Wildcats to get back on track soon.

NR Naples

An ugly 0-2 week for Naples knocks them out of the Power25. They fell 6-0 to Gulf Coast then 9-1 to Seacrest Country Day. After starting 10-0, Naples disappointed in Week 5. We’ll see if they can shake off this week and get back on track.

NR Plant City

Plant City suffered their third loss of the season last week falling 2-0 to Newsome. After starting the season 5-0, the Raiders have fallen off just a bit going 4-3 in their last 7. They have plenty of pitching led by Adan Longoria and Chase Mobley but the offense will need to step in order for continued success this season.

Newcomers

No. 23 Mitchell

The Mitchell Mustangs are off to a 10-2 start to 2022. Led offensively by Junior Aidan Miller batting .562. The Mustangs have a pretty deep lineup from 1-9 who can all make an impact on the game. Seniors Ashton Crowther and Jace Trautner have led the way on the mound allowing just 5 earned runs over 41 innings pitched.

No. 25 Tate

Tate has been one of the best teams in the Florida Panhandle this season posting an 11-1 record to start the year. The Aggies are outscoring opponents 120 to 22 and have done it against some tough out of state opponents as well. They will have a tough test coming up in the next few weeks with No. 9 Pace on their schedule twice as well as traveling south to No. 23 Mitchell.
