State Games - Georgia Tournament Recap

With the State Games - Georgia event completed, and champions crowned, here is a quick breakdown of how the top teams performed throughout the event.

14U:

The top 4 teams who made it out of pool play in this group go as follows:
Old Hickory Generals (3-0-1)
Rawlings Southeast (3-0-1)
+ 43 Rays (2-2)
Central Alabama Brewers (2-2)

The 14U group showed the most competitive slate of games for Championship Sunday.  In the first game of the day, Old Hickory Generals won a close game, 5-4, over the Central Alabama Brewers

Rawlings Southeast punched their championship ticket against Old Hickory with a 4-1 victory over 43 Rays. 

In the Championship game, a pitching duel showed what would be one of the top games of the day. Tied 1-1 for most of the game, Rawlings Southeast broke the game open, and ultimately took home the trophy, with a 3-1 victory. 

15U:

In the 15U division, there were three pool winners and one wildcard team who completed the Sunday slate.
ITP Lightning (4-0)
Rawlings Southeast MAD Mavericks (4-0)
Loganville (3-1)
QAB Baseball Academy (3-1)

The first bracket play game of the day featured the top-seeded ITP Lightning and QAB. QAB took down ITP by a convincing 10-4 score. 

In the second semi-final game, Rawlings SE MAD brought out the bats and took down Loganville, 8-2, setting up Rawlings and QAB in the finals. 

The Championship 14U game was another close one, as Rawlings defeated QAB by a score of 4-2. QAB threatened late, but Rawlings kept them at bay to take the victory. 

16U:

An age group that had solid talent the whole weekend, the 16U teams that advanced to bracket play were very well-deserved.
+Georgia Roadrunners (4-0)
+Easley Baseball - Moss (4-0)
+Triton Rays Georgia (3-1)
East Cobb Astros .22's (2-2)

The semi-final games showed both winning teams running away with their games, early.

The Roadrunners used solid pitching and timely hitting to beat the .22's by a score of 11-0.
In a similar game on the other side, Easley beat the Rays, 10-0.

In a competitive Championship game, the roadrunners delivered a walk-off single to beat Easley by a score of 4-3. 

17U:

The 17U group was, by far, the deepest division of the weekend. The four teams advancing showed well throughout the whole weekend.
+Central Alabama Brewers (4-0)
+Duluth Noles (4-0)
+Hardknox Orioles (4-0)
+Sox Baseball (3-1)

In the first semi-final game, the Brewers of Central AL beat the Sox, 4-3, on a walk-off single. 
Punching their Championship ticket was the Duluth Noles, who threw a shutout to beat Hardknox, 8-0.

The Championship game crowned the Duluth Noles with a victory over the Brewers to take home the 17U crown.
