Kansas High School Spring Spotlight: Chaparral

The Kansas high school baseball season kicks off on March 19, opening day for regular season action under KSHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2024 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down through the official Prep Baseball Kansas Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

2024 SEASON OUTLOOK

No. of Returning Starters:

Top Returning Players:

Conner Hostetler SS/P, Jr, 5'10 150 lbs, .410 AVG, .513 OBP, 19 Runs, 22 SB, very talented and competitive player who earned all league honors as a sophomore. Has started since day one as a freshman and looking to take a big jump this year as he continues to grow.

Tyce Pfaff C, Sr, 6'2 180 lbs, .304 AVG, .466 OBP, 2 HR, 13 Steals. 4 year starter, made the move to catcher last year and was outstanding earning honorable mention all league.

Daxton Hostetler 1B, So, 6', 210 lbs, .368 AVG, .411 OBP. Earned honorable mention all league as a freshman, came on at the end of the year as a pitcher and was a consistent bat in the middle of our lineup.

Ty Hadsall 2B/CF, So, 5'10, 150 lbs, .355 AVG, .452 OBP. A natural outfielder who had to play in the dirt last year, very comfortable all over the diamond, was a great producer at the heart of our lineup.

Top Newcomers:

Carter Hostetler, IF/OF, Fr, 5'6, 125 lbs, played a lot of baseball and looks to step in and make an impact immediately.

Coach’s Insight:

“Good core group returning from last year, a fun group that enjoys each other and wants to get better. Our team batting average was almost 100 points higher last year than the year before, very competitive in the box. Still very young, a lot of uncertainty in the pitching rotation.” – Tyler Clubine, head coach
