By: Prep Baseball Kansas Staff

The Kansas high school baseball season kicks off on March 19, opening day for regular season action under KSHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2024 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down through the official Prep Baseball Kansas Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Top Newcomers:

Trace Tudor - Freshman, 1B/LHP. Big physical kid who can hit for power from the left side. Competes on the mound like an upper-classman.

Cohen Gunn - Freshman, OF/LHP. Little guy with some speed. Has a live arm and goes right at guys.

Banks Jacobs - Freshman, C/RHP. Will provide depth at C that we needed. Finesse type guy who typically attacks the zone on the mound.

Coach’s Insight:

“Pitching depth will be the key to the season. While we lost two guys with the bulk of the innings in 2023, we return our top pitcher who will be supported by a trio of freshman pitchers who figure to produce right away. Losing our first two All-State players, one by graduation and one due to injury, we have lost good players in key positions. The freshmen coming up are skilled, we will have to see how they adapt to high school baseball and seeing older guys on the mound.” – Roger Ward, head coach
