By: Prep Baseball Kansas Staff

The Kansas high school baseball season kicks off on March 19, opening day for regular season action under KSHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2024 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down through the official Prep Baseball Kansas Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Our 2024 preseason coverage continues today.

2024 SEASON OUTLOOK

No. of Returning Starters:

5

Top Returning Players:

Ricardo Mascorro, Sr, C/P, R/R, 6A-Honorable Mention 2023, 1st-Team All-Meadowlark, hit .357 last season from the catcher position while also going 3-3 on the mound and posting 43 K's in 24.2 IP

Coach’s Insight:

“We only return 5 starters but we return a ton of depth and experience all over the field, especially behind the plate, at first base, and in the outfield. Pitching depth is a concern for anyone, but with the new season bringing about 26 games, we're going to be stretched pretty thin this season and we will be relying on some guys to step up from JV this season.” – Bryan Nelson, head coach
