The Kansas high school baseball season kicks off on March 19, opening day for regular season action under KSHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2024 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down through the official Prep Baseball Kansas Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Our 2024 preseason coverage continues today.

2024 SEASON OUTLOOK

No. of Returning Starters:

5

Top Returning Players:

Ty Calderwood P, C Soph 5'9" R/R - Ty Is a very hard worker and an easily coached kid. He is a hard thrower with a love for the game that sets him apart from other kids.

Jayden McClintic OF Sop 5'9" R/L - Jayden came a long way last season. He worked through some tough situations that really made him a better player. His glove in the outfield kept some games close for us.

Top Newcomers:

Landon Traver CF, C Fr 5'8" R/R - Heady player, lots of speed and hits the ball well. Always comes to play. Has played multiple sports at a very high level.

Josh Ulupano P, 1B Fr 5'7" R/R - Josh is a very coachable hard working kid. He will split time on the field and on the mound. Has been a good contact hitter and can hit for power.

Landon Reed 2B, OF, P FR 5'5" R/R - Really solid fielder. Can play outfield as well. Landon is really smart on the basepaths.

Dalton Lingenfelter SS, OF, P FR 5'7" R/R - Can play multiple positions at a high level. Will hopefully compete for an infield job.

Chase Vogeler IF, OF FR 5'10" R/R - Chase is a great kid with lots of upside potential. He will work on his own to get better. He is one of those kids that has the ability to play multiple positions.

Coach’s Insight:

“This group of younger guys know how to play hard. They do not have an off switch. Couple that with the much improved core of older guys I had last year and this should be a fun group to watch. We definitely need to hit the ball better. I feel we got much better by the end of the season. My guys need to carry that over to the beginning of our season. Our other area is pitching. It is really hard to manage pitch count with a limited number of arms. I need to do a better job of keeping my guys' numbers down and get catchers calling a better game.” – Jeremy Lingenfelter, head coach
