By: Prep Baseball Kansas Staff

The Kansas high school baseball season kicks off on March 19, opening day for regular season action under KSHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2024 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down through the official Prep Baseball Kansas Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Our 2024 preseason coverage continues today.

2024 SEASON OUTLOOK

No. of Returning Starters:

7

Top Returning Players:

Orlando Flores-Solis, RHP, Sr. Led us in innings pitched (27 2/3) and is one of three returning starting pitchers we have.

Kole Brown, 1B, Sr. Kole will be a four-year starter at first base. He's been named honorable mention all city twice. Second on the team last year with 16 hits and hit .347. Was also second on the team in RBI's with 11.

Aramis Flores-Solis, 2B, Jr. Led the team in hits last season with 21. Hit .396 out of the leadoff spot. Also led the team in runs with 18.

Alfonso Olivarez, SS, Jr. Was third on the team in hits with 13. I'm expecting Alfonso to take a big jump this season at the plate and in the field.

Santiago Maldonado, RHP, Jr. Led the team in wins with 3 and strikeouts with 37 in 24 2/3 innings. He is one of the top arms in our league when he is commanding his slider.

Coach’s Insight:

“Our experience will hopefully be a strength for us this year. We return 7 starters and 9 players who played varsity in some capacity last year. We were able to compete in many of our games, but our lack of pitching depth last season would catch up to us. Our team is hungry to take that next step and be a team that starts winning close games and not letting games slip away like we have in the past. [Some concerns are] pitching depth. We need some guys to step up to help our top two arms. If we get that, then we will be in a lot of games this year that hopefully go our way. ” – Randy Griffitts, head coach
