Uncommitted Spotlight: '20 Joshua Rogers

Joshua Rogers is a 6-foot-3 first baseman with feel around the bags and a solid approach at the plate. He is a projectable corner infielder who has and will continue making big leaps as a player as he fills out his lean, long limbed frame. A staple in the Liberty lineup over the past few seasons, Rogers has continued to show positive progress throughout his high school career, evident by his .321 average as a junior last year. Rogers has improved in the field as well becoming an asset at an overlooked position with his ability to handle a variety of throws as well as using his length to stretch after errant throws. A high quality kid off the field, yes sir, no sir type that would be a quality addition to any program in need of a projectable first baseman.

Defensively, Josh has held down first base for us and is just now scratching the surface as a complete hot corner defender and hitter. Positional Profile: 1B. Foot speed and length keep him at the position. 
Body: 6-foot-3, 170-pounds. Lean, long limbed. Plenty of room to add strength and size
Defense: Athletic with feel for the position. Utilized length to make plays.
Arm: RH - 72 mph. Quick, short arms cycle. High 3/4 arm slot. Accurate on each of his throws.
Hit: RHH. Crouched, rhythmic set up. Tends to come out of his legs at contact. Has a lot of moving parts, but does find the barrel. Should see significant leaps in power with added strength and size
Power: 89 mph exit velocity from the tee. 
Run: 7.62 runner
