Uncommitted Spotlight: '20 Layne Adaro

Layne Adaro is a scrappy, left-handed hitting middle infielder that plays with a chip on his shoulder. A key piece in the Wildcat's run at the State Title last year, Adaro held down the shortstop position while being a catalyst at the top of the Las Vegas batting order. The compact framed prospect had a .352 average with 21 RBIs, 9 double, 3 triples and 22 walks while crossing the plate 38 times for the Wildcats during his junior campaign. One of the top middle infielders still on the board, Adaro had a great showing at the Nevada All-State Games spraying the ball all over the yard during his batting practice session, showcasing his abilities to cause havoc on the base paths and flashing the leather in the infield, making a handful of plays throughout the day showing comfort in ranging to both sides. This a player who won't jump out of the stat sheet at you from a showcase standpoint, but you can help but like this prospect the more you watch him play. He may end up transitioning to second base at the next level, but don't think he won't give the shortstop a run for his money to force him over to the right side of the infield.

Defense: Ranges well to both side. Excellent footwork. Comes through the ball well.
Arm: MIF - 74 mph. Quick, short arm. Exchanges and gets the ball out quick. High 3/4 arm slot
Hit: LHH. Tall, slight open setup. Confident, smooth hand rhythm into longer stride. Gets into his legs well. Level bat path through the zone. Sprays the ball to all fields.
Power: 79 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Run: 7.10 runner in the 60. Aggressive baserunner. Good instinct on the base paths
