Tommy Bell, SS, Fairmont HS, Class of 2017
PBR: Why did you choose Old Dominion?
Bell: I choose Old Dominion because of a couple reasons. The school, location, facilities, coaches, and program all seemed like a good fit for me. Also, my family has a history at Old Dominion that I want to be apart of.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Bell: I was also considering Air Force and Wright State.
PBR: How much did playing down south play a part in your decision?
Bell: Growing up I always wanted to play south. However, living in Ohio made me realize that it wouldn't be that different. I would say it had an impact but not as big of one as I anticipated.
PBR: Old Dominion is a very prestigious school academically. How much of a challenge will it be to balance both academics and athletics at the same time?
Bell: The academics at Old Dominion will be a challenge but I believe I will be able to manage my time well. Taking classes early in the summer will be a huge help.
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?
Bell: I play for the Dayton Dodgers. My most memorable moment was winning the Cal Ripken Experience Tournament in Myrtle Beach.
PBR: What person has the greatest impact on your baseball career and why?
Bell: My dad. I grew up around baseball because he was a coach at Sinclair CC. He was always there for me growing up and had a huge impact on baseball, teaching me everything that he could and I thank him for that. He's still coaching me everyday in baseball and in life.
PBR: What were your stats this spring season?
Bell: .341, 22 Rs, 3 2B, 1 3B, 10 SB
PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced?
Bell: Jackson Tedder
