To some extent, one could called Northwest High School senior right-handed pitcher Danny Hentz a late bloomer.

Over the past year, he has progressively added weight and miles per hour to his fastball.

At the Unsigned Senior Games in August, he sat 81-83 mph and the PBR staff saw him up to 84 mph earlier in the summer while pitching for the Cincinnati Flames.

This fall, reports out of the Champions league have continuing to pick up velocity as well.

Fully engaged in the recruiting process, Hentz is pursuing a wide range of schools.

"I’m still actively researching schools that I would like to pursue," he said.

The right-handed pitcher continued, "At this point in time, I am interested in Shawnee State, Purdue, Tiffin, Otterbein, and Heidelberg. I like these schools because they are all within a few hours of my home, offer smaller class size, and various types of Business degrees."

Lately, Hentz has had direct contact with Shawnee State, Heidelberg, and Otterbein.

He elaborated, "I have submitted a player profile and exchanged emails with Coach Moore at Shawnee State."

Hentz continued, "I received calls from coaches at Otterbein and Heidelberg."

At this point, he hasn't had contact with Purdue or Tiffin, but plans to attend their camps this fall.

Academically, Hentz carries a weight grade point average of 4.55. He is a three year honors student, who has collected the FAVC All-Conference Academic Award.
