WESTFIELD, IN - The PBR Future Games is the elite recruiting event in the country each year. This one-of-a-kind event features the best uncommitted Class of 2020 prospects and select 2021 prospects from our 35-plus state coverage area. The Future Games will take place on August 1 - August 4 (Thursday-Saturday) at Grand Park, a state-of-the-art 22-field baseball complex located in Westfield, IN, just north of Indianapolis.

Here is a quick look at the twenty-six players from Texas that will play on Team Texas or Team Select.

Pitchers

 

Two-Way Players

 

Peyton Havard RHP / 3B / Bridge City, TX / 2020 Having seen Havard on multiple occasions this summer, the right-hander continues to impress on the bump, most recently at the South Texas Underclass Games where he ran his fastball up to 91, hitting 90, and 89, sitting mostly 86-88. He shows feel for a 72-73 mph curveball, and can break off a slider at 76, while showing feel for an 80 mph changeup. Havard has a strong, sturdy, barrel chested frame at 5-foot-11, 220-pounds. The right-handed hitter starts from a tall, open stance before he loads up by cocking the bat forward, turning inward as he uses a short leg kick to stride forward. Lands square with his hands in a strong position over his back shoulder with good separation. Aggressive hack, explosive lower half weight transfer, front arm bar, quick bat, loose finish on an uphill plane creates leverage, lift, and hard contact to the pull side during BP with an 89 mph exit velocity.

Logan Hamm OF / RHP / Bridge City, TX / 2020 The 6-foot, 200-pounder looks like he could choke slam a steam engine, but has the athleticism to go with it. At the Houston Underclass Trials, he ran a 6.87 60-yard dash, and launched balls during batting practice from the left side. College recruiters will want to see Hamm play both outfield and pitch at the Future Games. He has topped out at 92 from the outfield, and has gotten as high as 90 mph on the mound, working mostly in the 86-88 range over two events. Throws a 75-76 mph slider with tight rotation and short, sharp break. Curveball has deeper break at 71-73 mph, and his changeup comes in at 78-80 mph.

Tyler Talbert RHP / SS / Flower Mound, TX / 2020 Talbert is a strong, confident, athletic two-way player with upside. Last week at the North Texas Underclass Games, he ran a 6.87 60-yard dash, then took an outstanding round of BP, showing loose hands with good extension through contact as he laced balls through the middle of the field with an exit velocity of 87 mph. Talbert moves with easy actions at shortstop and has plenty of arm strength to stay on the left side of the field (91 mph). On the mound, the right-hander was 85-88.

Kauner Porter 3B / RHP / Samuel Clemens, TX / 2020 Porter is already strong for his class at 6-foot-3, 198-pounds with broad shoulders and muscular lower half. He topped out at 90 across the infield, and posted an 89 mph exit velocity. The right-handed hitter took a solid round of batting practice, making hard, loud contact. In one inning of work on the mound, Porter was mostly 86-88 with angle on the fastball, topping out at 89. Also broke off a couple of snap-dragon curveballs at 75 mph. College coaches will want to make sure they see Porter hit and pitch.

Josh Hill 3B / RHP / Cypress Creek, TX / 2020 Hill’s work at the plate and on the mound, this weekend, makes me believe that he will have a strong chance to continue as a two-way player at the next level. Long and athletic at 6-foot-3, 185-pounds, Hill possesses lean strength throughout his frame, and showcases some twitch at the plate where he works slightly uphill through the zone. He’s had multiple hits, and just seems to find a way to get it done and to collect hits. On the mound, the tall right-hander worked his fastball at 85-88 with some downward plane, and more velocity seeming highly likely in the near future. His curveball took 11/5 shape at 70-72, and he showed some feel for throwing it for strikes. Hill uses a shorter arm stroke before giving way to quick hand speed out front. He is definitely a player that coaches will want to follow closely as he continues to fill into his athletic frame.

Carson Keithley LHP / OF / Alvin, TX / 2020 It has been almost a year since we last saw Carson Keithley, the first player from Texas to attend the Future Games last year, and the first to attend in consecutive year. The left-hander has a quick arm to go with natural athleticism, and plenty of confidence and presence, both on the mound, and in the outfield. On the mound, he has an athletic lower half with good hip turn and leg drive. Up tempo delivery, Keithley goes right at hitters. In 2017, his fastball velocity was 81-85 mph, but there is certainly more to come in the future. His curveball was 66-69 mph with good 2/8 shape and more lateral action. Throws his changeup with fastball arm speed at 76 mph and arm side fade. A two-way player, Keithley is an athletic defender with a long stride, rhythm through the ball, soft hands and a quick exchange. The ball jumps out of his hand at 85 mph with plus carry and accuracy to the dish. At the plate, the left-handed hitter has a simple swing with a flat path and loose finish as the barrel stays in the zone a long time. Quick hands and a good sense of timing as his quick hips transfer his lower half through contact, creating good extension. With Ketihley's all-around athleticism and projectable frame, he is likely to make significant jumps in the coming years.

 

Infielders

 

Orlando Salinas SS / 2B / King, TX / 2020 5-foot-11, 175-pound strong athletic frame. One of the most well-rounded players at the Houston Underclass Trials. Salinas is a confident, left-handed hitting shortstop. Starting from an athletic stance, slightly crouched, with smooth rhythm throughout. Relaxed load with a controlled leg kick, displayed excellent balance and body control. Aggressive swing with bat speed and power (92 mph exit velo). Loose-quick hands whip the barrel through the zone with good extension through contact on an uphill plane. Great barrel awareness with pull side pop. On the infield, he has quick footwork and plays through the ball with easy rhythm, simple glove actions and soft hands, very smooth transfer on double play feed to his right. Can play on the run and makes all the throws from different slots that should allow him to stay on the infield at a high level. Throws across the diamond with high end accuracy and carry with a top velocity of 88 mph. Ran a 6.91 laser-timed 60.

Cade Merka SS / RHP / Argyle, TX / 2020 Merka’s steady play and leadership qualities should make him a valuable piece of some school’s recruiting class in the future. The 6-foot, 170-pounder has wiry-athleticism and is confident in his abilities in the field where he has solid hands and an accurate throwing arm that should allow him to play multiple positions at the next level. At the plate, the right-handed hitter sprayed line drives all weekend, and utilizes the whole field well. He battles late in at-bats, and proves to be a difficult out with his coverage of the plate.

Jack Riedel SS / 2B / Houston Memorial, TX / 2020 Riedel is a left-handed hitting shortstop with a ton of long term projection in his athletic 6-foot-1, 160-pound frame, and lots of room for physical development. The left-handed hitter has a pronounced leg kick with easy, fluid rhythm, loose-quick hands and balance throughout his swing. Smoked a triple off an 89 mph fastball during the game to the right-center gap. At shortstop, he fields the ball with rhythm and good overall feel for the position, solid arm strength at 82 mph across the diamond with some effort. Average exchange that should continue to improve. Overall gamer-type player with great energy, loves to play, sprinted on and off the field all day when the temp was 105.

Stanley Tucker SS / RHP / Lamar Consolidated, TX / 2020 At the South Texas Sliders Scout Day, Tucker ran a 6.97 60-yard dash on a slow track. Standing 5-foot-9, 150-pounds, he has a quick-twitch frame, took a solid round of BP, flashing some pull side power with a home run. Moves easy at shortstop, soft hands, quick exchange, and tons of arm strength across the infield (87 mph).

Thomas Schreck SS / 2B / Needville, TX / 2020 Schreck has a high motor on the infield and you can tell he loves to play. Quick-twitch actions, soft hands, accurate arm, fast exchange, and the ability to play on the run suggest that Schreck will be a great addition to a recruiting class as he can really pick it in the middle of the field.

MJ Rodriguez 1B / C / Veterans Memorial, TX / 2020 Rodriguez is one of the top offensive players in his class. The right-handed hitter posted an exit velocity of 105 (off the tee), showed strength throughout his swing during batting practice with natural lift and quick-strong hands. Rodriguez also threw 76 mph from the crouch with 2.04-2.15 pop times. He also has soft hands at first base and made numerous picks during the infield workout.

 

 

Outfielders

 

Elijah Nunez OF / Arlington Martin, TX / 2020 On multiple occasions this summer, Nunez has been a top performer. A the North Texas Underclass Trials, he started the day by running a 6.62 60-yard dash, then showed off quick hands with strength with natural lift from the left-side of the plate (93 exit velo off the tee). Nunez also threw 84 mph from the outfield as he played through the ball with a clean exchange and athleticism. The rising junior has been receiving significant attention from recruiters this summer.

Tyler Douglas OF / LHP / John Cooper, TX / 2020 At the PBR Texas Limited Series, Douglas showed an aggressive approach. There is something about this left-handed hitter that you just enjoy watching. He gets in the box and “wants” to hit. He isn’t looking for the perfect pitch, or even his pitch necessarily, he is looking to impact the baseball with an aggressive hack. Our scouting staff has seen him several times over the past year, and Douglas is always playing aggressively, whether at the plate, on the bases, or in the outfield.

Kameron Weil OF / 2B / Lamar, TX / 2020 The 5-foot-9, 160-pound, left-handed hitting outfielder set the tone for the Stix team hitting from the leadoff position at the PBR Texas Limited Series. He has a balanced approach at the plate with fast hands that allow him to spray line drives to all fields. Perhaps his best asset, and one that college recruiters will want to take note of, is his speed. He gets out of the box well, and tracks pitches easily which may allow for him to continue at the top of some school’s order in the future. The more you follow Weil, the better he gets, and with his versatility, speed, and left-handed stick, schools will want to track his progress moving forward.

Robert Antonetti C / OF / Grapevine, TX / 2020 Antonetti had one of the loudest performances at the PBR Texas Limited Series, and hammered balls to all fields throughout the weekend. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound, left-handed hitter features a relaxed, balanced stance with his hands held low before ripping the barrel through the zone on a flat path that showcases plenty of lag in the zone. Compact with some strength to his frame, especially in the wrists and forearms, Antonetti exhibited the ability to drive the ball to both gaps with consistent, loud contact. Still developing a bit behind the plate, he should provide some depth at the position at the next level while being a primary outfielder with a strong arm. While his command was a bit erratic in his outing on the mound, he was able to run his fastball up to 87 mph, and I would not be surprised if that number continues rising in the future as he has a quick, strong arm.

 

Catchers

 

Luke Banister C / 1B / Hutto, TX / 2020 Banister is a strong, athletic back-stop with a fluid, powerful swing, and carry in his arm. He has advanced strength for his class with a muscular lower half at 5-foot-10, 190-pounds. His pop times ranged from 2.0-2.1 with a 76 mph velocity from the crouch, but we have seen him throw sub-2 pops in previous events. He has soft hands, quick in-line footwork and a clean exchange, which should allow him to progress at a fast rate in the coming years. He handles the ball well during games, showing the ability to block and receive at a high level, and gunned down a runner at second base. Offensively, the right-handed hitter shows a lot of upside at the plate with a fluid swing, easy rhythm, loose hands and projectable power. Banister gets the most out of his frame utilizing a reverse toe-tap with clean hand movement before driving his hands through the zone. He creates angle with his shoulders and finishes on his backside with full follow through creating backspin and current gap power with an exit velocity of 88 mph off the tee. For good measure, the sophomore also ran a 7.07 60-yard dash. Overall, Banister demonstrates the defensive capabilities to be a high level catching prospect. His quiet receiving skills only stand to get better as he continues to mature, and with his added strength his bat will certainly play well at the next level.

Nathaniel Price C / OF / Mansfield Legacy, TX / 2020 Our scouting staff has seen Price on numerous occassions throughout the past year, whether in fall league games, hitting in the top of the order at Mansfield Legacy, or at the North Texas Underclass Games. He has an ultra-quick exchange behind the plate and throws bullets to second base with pop times of 1.83, 1.83, 1.91, and 1.94. He also makes strong contact at the plate with an exit velocity of 93 mph (tee). Quick-twitch, athletic player with solid all-around tools.

Christopher Wattinger C / 3B / Bridgeland, TX / 2020 Wattinger has added strength to his frame in the past six months which has allowed the bat to catch up to his defense. At 6-foot, 185-poounds, Wattinger has a strong lower half and broad shoulders. He has a quick, clean exchange with an easy, repeatable arm stroke that allows him to make consistent throws to second base with pop times ranging from 1.97-2.1. Super soft hands behind the plate, Wattinger has the look of an elite receiver who's defense should take him a long way at the next level.
