Prep Baseball Georgia Staff

As the 2024 Georgia high school season nears, and we finish up our last rankings update of the year we take a look at some players that are primed and ready for big sophomore years. This can be a pivotal year for many of these players as some will earn starting spots on their varsity squads, and be relied on as key contributors. Playing varsity baseball in Georgia is no small task, and contributing as a sophomore is even harder to come by. These 7 catchers are our "pick to click" this spring. We know there will be tons of guys with that stand out this spring, and we look forward to getting out to cover the entire state to find those players.. Be sure to follow along the next few days as we will be releasing the final round of 2026 picks to click with the pitchers.

Branson Crawford, Catcher/Outfielder
Height: 5-foot-9
Weight: 165-pounds
School: Gainesville
Commitment: Uncommitted

+ There isn’t much Crawford can’t do, but catcher has been his primary position over the last few years. The arm from behind the plate is the strongest in the state and his pops will keep him competitive with anyone. The power is starting to come in at the plate, and we could see him take off this spring. He has a bulldog mentality and will be a tireless worker behind the dish.

Chip Glogorski, Catcher
Height: 5-foot-11
Weight: 180-pounds
School: Kings Ridge
Commitment: Uncommitted.

+ Glogorksi had a breakout summer, and has shot up the the rankings in the latest update. He will look to follow up the strong summer during the spring season at Kings Ridge. We should see him split time behind the dish and over at 1B, but regardless he will keep himself in the line up with the bat. He is one of the toughest outs we saw this summer and had the ability to drive the ball gap to gap. His home field for high school ball is one of the largest in the state, so the approach won’t change. He will be a good follow headed into his 16u summer during a pivotal recruiting year.

Kenny Foudy, Catcher
Height: 5-foot-11
Weight: 171-pounds
School: North Hall
Commitment: Uncommitted

+ The ‘22 Junior Future Gamer has done nothing but progress since he burst onto the scene barreling nearly every ball he hit at our premier summer event last year. He gained some valuable playing time at North Hall as a freshman, but now they will look for him to be a key contributor come the ‘24 spring season. Foudy has trust the process of adding strength and size to make the power really stand out at the plate. Within the last few months we have seen him really learn how to lock in that new found strength at the plate. During the Sauce scout day in November we saw him average exit velocities in the low-mid 90’s.

Mason Meehan, Catcher
Height: 5-foot-11
Weight: 175-pounds
School: West Forsyth
Commitment: Uncommitted

+ Buoyed by excellent bat-to-ball skills and all-field approach, Mason Meehan was all-over the barrel throughout the summer and fall at Lakepoint. What has really stood out for the West Forsyth backstop is the consistent strength added throughout 2023 that started to show in some pull-side pop as we closed the travel ball circuit. Present above-average athleticism and arm behind the dish really bring the profile together, and can be a name to thrive this spring.

Bryson Germanenko, Catcher
Height: 5-foot-10
Weight: 168-pounds
School: North Forsyth
Commitment: Uncommitted

+ Utilizing a quiet setup at the plate with advanced barrel control, Germanenko has done nothing but rake every time we’ve seen him over the last 12 months. Explosive hands through the zone that stay on-plane allow for an up-the-middle approach but shows ability to turn on the ball with backspin when needed. Catch and throw skills behind the dish might lead the profile with soft hands and strong, accurate throws. Germanenko finished the fall as well as anyone and looks ready for a big role with North Forsyth this spring.

Drew Abney, Catcher
Height: 5-foot-11 do
Weight: 205-pounds
School: Pope
Commitment: Uncommitted

+ With a stout, physical frame that shows present strength in the lower half, Abney flashed a potent barrel from the left-side this past year. Creates loft with minimal effort and has shown an ability to get carry to all-fields. Athletic out of the crouch with good flexibility and advanced blocking. Played a big role in 2023 for state runner-up Pope in 2023 and with a ballclub returning a ton of talent, could be set to make a deep run again with Abney in the heart of it.

Neyland Hulsey, Catcher
Height: 5-foot-10
Weight: 185-pounds
School: Rockmart
Commitment: Uncommitted

+ Hulsey is the ultimate team guy that can rally any group behind the dish. He will be a lockdown defender while also being tough to steal on. He will be as consistent as they come at the plate. He doesn’t try to do too much, he knows his approach and sticks with it. The two time Junior Future Gamer will look to lead a strong Rockmart team into the playoffs this spring.
