Former Oak Forest slugger Tim Barry transfers schools

Tim Barry, Illinois’ all-time leader in home runs and RBI, has transferred to Wabash Valley JC. The former Oak Forest slugger had originally committed to Kansas State University last year but chose to attend Daytona Beach CC instead.

The 6-foot, 205-pound Barry capped his storied prep career last year as the only four-time Prep Baseball Report All-State selection. He finished his career at Oak Forest with a state-record 53 home runs. He broke the state record in early May when he launched seven homers in a week. Barry helped lead Oak Forest to a state runner-up finish in Class 3A last spring.

As a junior, Barry batted .578 with 17 homers, 43 RBI, bringing his three-year totals to 41 home runs and 170 RBI. As a freshman at Oak Forest, he tallied 78 RBI, which ranks second in the state’s single-season record book.
