Illinois Commits

Justin Rodriguez, C, Fenwick, 2015 ??? Concordia-Chicago (IL)
Rodriguez was a physically advanced 5-foot-10, 185-pounder back in January of 2012 when he attended the Underclass Invitational. He commits to Divison-III Midwest Regional qualifier Condordia-Chicago (IL). The Cougars finished 2014 ranked No. 10 in the country, thanks to a 39-7 overall record and won the NACC Conference Championship, going 18-3 in conference play. Here???s the scouting report from the event: Rodriguez is a 5-foot-10, 185-pound two-way player.  He showed well at the plate, with his balanced setup and economical approach to the ball.  Using his strong lower half as his base, he exhibited good bat speed while remaining balanced throughout. The ball jumped off his bat with backspin carry.  Behind the plate, Rodriguez had a best pop time of 2.13 and was clocked at 75 mph from the crouch.  On the mound, Rodriguez throws three pitches: a 77-78 mph fastball, a breaking ball that had 11/5 shape, and a 70 mph changeup.

Matt Vanek, RHP, Plainfield North, 2015 - St. Xavier (IL)
Vanek is currently ranked No. 154 in Illinois, and impressed as the No. 10 overall prospect at August???s PBR Unsigned Senior games. He commits to St. Xavier University in Chicago to play for new head coach Rocco Mossuto, taking over for Hall of Famer Mike Dooley. Tall lean frame, slender build, projectable at 6-foot-2, 155-pounds. Excellent tempo in game action, smooth delivery, gets it and goes. Arm action is loose, high ¾ slot, quick arm. Fastball sat 83-85 mph in windup, down a tick from slide step stretch. Curveball showed above average action, 11/5 plane, 64-69 mph. Worked quickly and efficiently in game action, two scoreless frames, no hits, no walks, one strikeout. Highly projectable right handed pitcher.

Adnan Sator, RHP, Niles Notre Dame, 2015 - Lincoln Trail JC
6-foot-4, 190-pound right-handed pitcher originally committed to Kansas. Currently ranked No. 131 in Illinois. Sator sat 83-84 mph, touching 87 as a sophomore in 2013, from an over-the slot, working downhill efficiently. He???s also showed the ability to throw a 74-75 mph curveball with 12/6 shape for strikes.

Max Brzostowski, MIF, Joliet Catholic, 2015 - University of Chicago

The 5-foot-8, 150- pound middle infielder, currently ranked No. 218 in Illinois, impressed after missing the spring season at Joliet Catholic due to injury. Brzostowski commits to the University of Chicago to play for new Head Coach and University of Chicago alum John Fitzgerald, formerly the skipper at North Central College in Naperville, IL. Likely would have played in the infield for the HIlltoppers in 2014. Played short t,his fall for the Downers Grove Longshots flashes arm strength to play there at the next level, frame fits at second base. Physical lower half, impressed driving a double to right center field.
