Prep Baseball Report

Underclass Trials: Preview

Illinois Staff

This Wednesday, June 6, PBR Illinois is returning to Boomers Stadium to host this year’s edition of Underclass Trials. The showcase is open to all prospects in either class 2020 or 2021. This event’s purpose is twofold: Players will receive their typical exposure in the form of a full scouting report, video, and analysis, but this event will also serve as an identifier for 2018’s Prep Baseball Report Future Games, the summer’s premier for 2020 prospects within our coverage area. The day’s 2021 prospects will also be identified as potential invitees for July’s Underclass Games.

At last year’s event, we got the chance to Oak Park-River Forest’s Griffin Holderfield (Creighton commit) and Nathan Diamond (Pepperdine), as well as Charlie Alison of Rock Island, who’s since committed to Indiana State. Here’s a look at last year’s top overall prospect from the 2019 and 2020 classes.

Griffin Holderfield (6.7.17)

This year there are nearly 100 participating prospects, and we’re looking forward to the opportunity of seeing first-hand the athletes capable of playing at the next level.
