Unsigned Senior Spotlight: RHP Josiah Carlson

Josiah Carlson, RHP/OF, Glenbrook South HS
Carlson is a long and loose 6-foot-4, 165-pound right-hander who possesses considerable upside on the mound. Carlson has a wiry, athletic frame, one that should fill out well in the coming years. On the mound, Carlson comes from a high ¾ arm slot with a fastball that has been in the 81-84 mph range with arm side run.

With his body type, long limbs and arm looseness, Carlson should see his velocity spike in the coming years. His curveball displayed some bite down in the zone and came in at 69-71 mph. His changeup was thrown with good arm speed and exhibited fade. Throughout the Fall Prospect Program, he demonstrated the ability to throw consistent strikes with three pitches.

As a junior, Carlson established himself as a big-game pitcher last spring for the Central Suburban League South champion Titans, finishing with a 6-1 record.

Additionally, Carlson is a sub-7 runner. His athleticism plays well in the outfield, where he showed the ability to track down balls in either power alley.
