No. 6 Mt. Carmel (1-0) won its season opener by blasting Lake View 10-0 in five innings. Caravan senior RHP Tyler Laurisch (1-0) picked up the win with two hitless innings while striking out 5. Caravan senior Brent Novosel led the Caravan attack with a pair of hits and two RBI. 

No. 7 Simeon (1-0) opened up the season in a big way hammering King 13-0 in five innings. Sophomore Darius Day went deep with the bases full. Freshman Terrance Robertson (1-0) did not allow the Jaguars a hit while striking out 11 in picking up the win on the mound for the Wolverines. Junior Marshawn Taylor also went deep for the Wolverines.

The Knights of Chicago Christian (2-0) made it two straight to open the season with a 10-0 blanking of Rich South on Tuesday. Knight sophomore Sean Omeara had a perfect day at the plate with a 3-for-3 afternoon. Junior Mike Harms (1-0) picked up the win on the mound for the Knights.

Mount Vernon (1-0) slipped past Salem 3-2 in the season opener for both clubs. Ram junior Thomas Landon and senior Zach Jones picked up Rams RBI. 6-foot-4 senior Jared Anthis (1-0) picked up the win on the mound for the Rams as he scattered five hits over 5 2/3 innings. Jones retired the only four batters he faced to pick up the save for Anthis.

Mahomet-Seymour (1-0) crushed Villa Grove 18-1 in five innings as junior

Brad Hermann had three hits and plated seven Bulldog runs. Junior Tyler Francisco chipped in with a 4-for-4 afternoon with two doubles and four RBI.

Bloomington Central Catholic (1-0) beat Gibson City 11-1 in five innings behind a 10-strikeout no-hitter from junior RHP Sean Coonan (1-0). The Saints had seven hits but benefitted most from five Gibson City miscues.

Taylorville (1-0) smashed Morrisonville 12-2 in five innings. The Tornadoes attack was led by senior SS Alex Lazzaro, who had three hits, including a triple and drove in two runs. Junior Seth Trulock (1-0) picked up the win on the mound for Taylorville.
