This Tuesday, June 27th, the PBR Illinois team is hosting the West Suburban Open at Lee Pfund Field in Carol Stream, Ill. This is an open event for all high school classes (2024-27), and gives our staff an ample look at the area's top players.

EVENT HISTORY

This is our second year of hosting this event, and it's already provided us a look at prominent players who've later gone on to receive invitations to select events, like the PBR Future Games. Among the players in attendance at this event in 2022, there are already 12 commitments among them.

Last year at this event, OF Brendan Tunink (Newman Central Catholic, 2024) emerged as a name to know after putting together one of the top performances of the day. He started off his day by running a 6.87 in the 60-yard dash, he followed it up with a clean round of BP where he generated exits as high as 101.9 mph, and he also threw 85 mph from the outfield. Because of his efforts, Tunink received an invite to the PBR Future Games, representing Team Illinois, and committed to Notre Dame shortly after. Two other names who built off of impressive showings at this event in 2022 were MIF Aidan Thaxton (St. Ignatius, 2023; Valparaiso commit) and INF Isaac Sobieszczyk (Willowbrook, 2023; Bradley commit). Both names were winners last year and followed it up with even more impressive summers, with each committing later on in the year.

We're looking forward to checking in on the next crop of talent from this event to earn next-level attention in the coming weeks, months, and years.

2023 ROSTER

This year's roster is already shaping up nicely, just like in years past.

RHP Madden Johnson (Mattoon, 2025) is currently ranked No. 41 in Illinois’ class of 2025. Standing at 6-foot-1, 150-pounds, the right-hander provided a quality look this spring for our staff with a low-80s fastball, topping it out at 85 mph. He mixed in a tight slider with late break and a changeup with fading action.

OF/RHP Nolan Ramoley (Brother Rice, 2026) and OF/2B Tanner Soucinek (Moline Senior, 2025) were both in attendance at our Preseason All-State: Underclass event in the winter and showed well. Ramoley produced a max exit velocity of 94.2 mph, an average exit velocity of 86 mph, and ran a 6.69 60-yard dash. Soucinek recorded an upper-80s max exit velocity and an infield velocity of 80 mph.

1B/OF CJ Regillio (Crystal Lake South, 2024) is an incoming senior that stands at an intriguing 6-foot-6, 210-pounds. Regillo produced impressive hitting metrics at past events with a max exit velocity of 96.2 mph and a max bat speed of 77.6 mph. This event will provide our staff with an updated look at Regillo.

Perusing the event roster, we’re set to meet a majority of players who’ve not yet attended a PBR showcase, and we’re eager to add more names to our follow lists.

EVENT CHECK-IN PROCESS

Because of the high number of prospects set to attend Tuesday's event, it is imperative that you read our adjusted showcase itinerary below, which will allow our staff to swiftly and efficiently educate and evaluate the players set to attend.

Additionally, in an effort to continue and develop contactless check-in strategies, upon arrival, players will scan a QR Code with their smart phone camera that will lead them to a Google Form. On that Form, players will enter their name (matching the spelling on their PBR profile) and hit submit. Upon submission, players will be prompted to click a link that will direct them to their jersey color and number, located next to their registered name.
