Prep Baseball Illinois Pitcher of the Week: Tyler Zuber

Assistant Director, Illinois & Wisconsin

Mt. Zion is off to a 3-1 start to the year, and this is due in part to RHP Tyler Zuber (2024; Lake Land commit). The right-hander was in full control on Wednesday of last week in their 10-0 win over Danville, firing a no-hitter over the course of six innings while punching out 16, only needing 85 pitches for this feat and only throwing 25 balls all game. For his efforts and stellar performance, Zuber has been named this week’s Pitcher of the Week.

Zuber, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound right-hander will be headed to Lake Land next fall, and he’s an intriguing arm that will help lead Zion’s rotation throughout the spring. The right-hander will fill up the zone with three pitches, highlighted by his fastball which can get into the upper-80s. He’ll also go to a mid-70s curveball and low-70s changeup to fill out his arsenal.

On the season, Zuber now boasts a perfect 2-0 record with 11 innings under his belt, just one hit allowed in total, one run, two walks, 23 strikeouts, a 0.64 ERA and 0.273 WHIP.

We're thankful for the POTW submissions we received from the coaches across the state. The players who garnered POTW consideration will earn a place within tomorrow's Diamond Notes story, so be on the lookout for that.
