Prep Baseball Report

Unsigned Senior Spotlight: 1B/3B Cole Cothren

Rocco Iervasi
Florida Director of Operations/Area Scout

Our goal at Prep Baseball Report is to promote high school players, and give them the exposure they need to be able to play at the next level. With the 2020 high school season in limbo, we want to continue to be able to promote players, even when baseball is not being played. This spring, we will be spotlighting several uncommitted seniors to help them get the exposure they need to play at the next level in 2021.

Next up is uncommitted 2020 1B/3B Cole Cothren (Plant City). Cothren has a very projectable frame at 6-foot-5, 200 pounds. His bat made a big impact for Plant City and was one of the biggest reasons why they were out to a 7-1 record in 2020.

Scouting Report

1/23/19 - 6-foot-5, 200 pounds, he has long strides and ran a 7.33 60 yard dash. Defensively, has solid actions around the bag and topped out at 77 mph. Offensively there is some length, but uses the long arms to create leverage and has present strength with an exit velocity of 90 mph. He has a somewhat short stride and could access more power as he learns to use the lower half. Strength and power potential.
