Team Georgia 13u: Game One Recap

Georgia exploded in the 1st inning, running up 16 runs across 10 hits. Hunter Dillard started things off with a triple to deep right, then scoring on a wild pitch. Team Georgia made that 2-0 after Colin Anderson barreled a double, scoring Lio Garcia who got on base with a walk. Liam Collier doubled into the left-center gap, scoring Anderson to make the score 3-0. Collier scored after two wild pitches, running it up to 4-0. Andrew Akopov made it around the bases after a walk, stolen base, and a couple wild pitches to make the score 5-0. Jaycob Veloz doubled down the right field line to get Dominic Rossy to 3rd, who got HBP, then scoring on a fielder’s choice to make it 6-0. Veloz scored after Chase Alonso singled to right, 7-0 Georgia as they continue to pile on. The bases were loaded after Gavin Greene got a single and Gianni Gandy walked, setting it up for Logan Arnett who singled, scoring 2. 9-0 Georgia. Max Maher then doubled to deep center to score two more, 11-0 Georgia. Hunter Dillard came back up in the inning and hit a single, advancing to 2nd. Team Georgia got another run after two consecutive walks, 12-0. Spencer Norman hit a long barrel to deep left-center for a ground-rule double, scoring two more to make the score 14-0. The final scoring play in the 1st came on a Liam Collier hard-hit barrel in the hole to score two more, making the score 16-0 at the end of the 1st. 

Connecticut made multiple attempts to catch Georgia but Georgia came out on top, with the final score being 20-12. The 1st inning ultimately decided the game with Georgia batting the ball around and making smart base running decisions. Max Maher, Kingston Jones and Logan Arnett took care of business on the mound.
