Peoria Preseason I.D.: Preview

By Illinois Staff

On Wednesday, Feb. 26, the PBR Illinois team makes its return to the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex to host the third annual Peoria Preseason I.D. There are currently over 60 prospects set to attend the event, and registration is still open.

This showcase has been successful at helping our staff identify high-level prospects in the state ahead of the spring season. Last year, it was Sacred Heart-Griffin sophomore Ramon Jimerson, who’s now committed to Oklahoma. He’s a top-25 prospect in the state’s blossoming 2022 class, so we’re looking forward to finding the next Jimerson inside the 2023s set to attend Wednesday. In 2018, right-handers Andrew Pogue (Dunlap, 2019; Illinois) Connor Aten (Galesburg, 2020; Bradley commit), though Aten’s performance at this event two years ago is where he first broke out.

Set to attend on Wednesday, junior backstop Carson Dubach (Edwardsville; uncommitted), an athletic left-handed hitter who has some above-average traits from behind the dish. INF Seth Parkinson (Rochester; uncommitted) is among the notable 2022s headed to Peoria. Built at an athletic 6-foot-1, Parkinson swings a simple and loose right-handed bat and is also a pretty smooth defender, especially for his age.

Carson Dubach (7/2/19)

We were just able to see RHP/INF Kaiser Quick (Metamora, 2022; uncommitted) at this month’s prestigious Underclass Invitational event where he stood out for his mid-80s velocity combined with a feel for three. Our staff is fortunate enough to be getting another look at the sophomore in Peoria, too.

Many of the prospects headed to Peoria will be making their PBR debut, so it’s a wonder which of the players on Wednesday will come away with some momentum headed into the spring.
