Underclass Showcase: Pitcher Analysis

By Drew Locascio
Illinois Scouting Director

We began rolling out the Underclass Showcase analysis earlier this week and today we take a look at the top pitchers. There was a plethora of young pitching prospects on display at the event so we decided to rank the Top 20. 2019 RHP Grant Leader stole the show, sitting 85-86 mph with a loose and quick arm action. Leader also flashed four pitches for strikes that are presently above-average offerings for his age.

Coming in closely behind Leader was 6-foot-7, 2018 LHP Steven Sanchez, an imposing figure who flashed a low 80's fastball and showed the ability to spin a breaking ball with depth.

Our Scouting staff got together and ranked the Top 20 pitchers which are listed below.
