Top 20 Profiles of 2020: No. 17 Dawson Coe

Our countdown of the top-20 most viewed profiles of 2020 marches on. Coming in with the No. 17th most viewed profile of the year is Tennessee commit LHP Dawson Coe (Loganville, 2022). Coe burst on to the scene early in the summer with a big outing at the Underclass Games back in early June at LakePoint Sports.

The southpaw can be a lot to handle when he is on. Working from a 3/4 slot, he hides the ball well and strides towards the first base side of the rubber, creating a difficult angle of attack. Coe's fastball sits in the upper 80s and is capable of touching 90. He tosses two distinct breaking balls, a big breaking slurve and a tight cutter.

PBR Showdown

Uncommitted. One of the top left-handed pitchers in Georgia’s class of 2022, 6-foot-2, 195-pound, athletic on the mound, strength throughout with room for more. Arm works short and loose to a ¾ slot, advanced arm speed, pitches with supreme confidence, attacking the zone and challenging hitters to touch his best stuff. Fastball sat 87-90 with running action. Curveball, 73, sweeping action, swing and miss type pitch, able to paint corners with and bring inside on the hands to righties.

Underclass Games

Tennessee commit. 6-foot-2, 195-pound left-handed pitcher, proportional frame, broad upper half, strong lower half with more strength developing throughout. On the mound, arm works long on the back-side with some wrist curl, accelerates quickly out front to a ¾ slot, advanced arm speed, whippy hand speed. Drop and drive delivery, rides his explosive lower half down the mound, long stride, works across the mound some, finishes crossing over. Fastball sat 87-89, touched 90, mostly straight, high spin rate (2500+ rpm). Curveball, 73-75, 12/6 shape, depth, bite, swing and miss pitch. Slider, tight spin, lateral movement, plays more like a cut-fastball, 83-84. Changeup, fade action. Legit four pitch mix, some of the best “stuff” at the Underclass Games.
