Team Georgia v Team Mid-Atlantic Recap

Team Georgia took to the field on Sunday afternoon for their first game of the 2020 PBR Future Games against Team Mid-Atlantic. The Georgia Boys were equally led by strong pitching and a barrage of hits from the offense as they came away with a 7-4 victory.

One of the top ranked arms in the country, RHP/QB1 Dylan Lonergan (Brookwood, 2023), got the start for Team Georgia, and showed why he is so highly coveted. The 6-foot-2, 208-pounder has an advanced frame with a supremely strong lower half. Lonergan has a relaxed look on the mound and works with little-to-no effort throughout his entire delivery. His demeanor and presence lulls batters to sleep, and catches batters off guard with his fastball that ranged 88-91, touching 92. Lonergan relied mainly on his fastball, offering up one breaking ball at 79. In 2.0 innings pitcher, Team Mid-Atlantic was limited to one unearned run one one hit. The big right-handers final line was: 2.0 IP, 1 K, 2 BB, 1 H 1 R.


Team Georgia got on the board first in the second inning when 3B/RHP Tai Peete (Trinity Christian, 2023) and SS Colin Houck (Parkview, 2023) both came around to score on OF/RHP Kameron Douglas (Woodstock, 2022) triple to right field. Douglas muscled a pitch into right that took a favorable bounce over the outfielders head, allowing for both runners to score and him to advance to third base.

The ball was handed over to RHP/QB1 Bryce Archie (McEachern, 2022) in the third inning. Archie is a projectable athlete at 6-2, 190-pounds with a lot of room to keep filling out, and was highly competitive on the mound. Originally tasked with throwing three innings, Archie was asked to throw a fourth inning and jumped at the chance with zero hesitation. Archie scattered four singles over four innings, allowing two runs. Another physical right-hander, he competed in the zone with a fastball that ranged 85-90 and a hard slider at 80-82. There was a lot to like with the amount of arm talent Archie possesses, and his competitive spirit.


The fifth inning of the game proved to be the difference maker for Team Georgia. SS/OF Chandler Pollard (Woodward Academy, 2022) got the inning going by using his 6.7 speed to beat out an infield single. He then put that speed to even more use, swiping second base. 3B Tyler Triche (North Forsyth, 2022) drew a walk, and Peete loaded the bases with an infield single. Team Georgia tied the game up at 3-3 thanks to bases loaded walk by Houck. Once again, it was Douglas who came up with a clutch-hit. The right-handed hitter sent a hard hit ball into right field that ended up all the way in the corner, resulting in a three run triple. Douglas would come around to score on C/RHP David Bell’s (Greenbrier, 2022) groundout to shortstop.

After being the offensive catalyst for Team Georgia, Douglas stepped on the mound to close things out for Team Georgia. Douglas has an ultra projectable 6-foot-3, 185-pound frame with lean athleticism. As impressive as he was at the plate, it was even more impressive what he was capable of on the mound. The right-hander showed a short, quick arm and feel for three pitches. There is much more velocity in his future as he fills out his lean frame. Douglas closed out the 7-4 win, collecting one strikeout in the process. He worked 88-89 with his fastball, and complimented it with a downer slider at 72 and a sinking changeup at 77.
