Lincoln-Way Central is off to an 18-9 start, taking down some tough opponents along the way. One of the cornerstones in the Knights lineup this spring has been junior Louisville commit Colin Mowry, providing a thunderous bat in the lineup on a daily basis. This past week, Mowry put together one of the more impressive stat lines we have seen up to this point in the spring, as he went a staggering 7-for-13 with six home runs, 12 RBIs, eight runs scored and seven walks (five intentional) - with two of his home runs coming in the same inning. For his dominating performance, Mowry has been named this week’s Player of the Week

Mowry started his week by going 1-for-3 with a home run, RBI and a run scored in a 4-2 loss to Andrew.

Tuesday is where we see him take off, helping to take down Normal Community 13-1 as he went a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate with four home runs, seven RBIs and four runs scored - with two of the home runs coming in the same inning and all four of them being in consecutive at-bats.

He wasn’t quite finished yet though, as he added another home run with four RBIs and two run scored in a 15-2 win over Normal West.

On the season, Mowry is now hitting .429 in 84 at-bats with a .542 OBP, 1.435 OPS, nine home runs, one triple, 10 doubles, 32 RBIs and 30 runs scored.

Currently the No. 3 ranked player in the state, No. 64 overall, Mowry has consistently proven himself to be one of the top players in the state since he entered the high school ranks. Shooter Hunt, our Vice President of Scouting, had this to say about Mowry at this past summer’s Area Code games: “On a White Sox team that took the best batting practice of any team at the event, Mowry was towards the top of that list. The sturdy and athletic, 6-foot, 195-pound catcher worked effortlessly short-to-long through the zone showcasing quickness to the hands with considerable power potential. His ability to create quickness in a short window stood out along with the ability to change planes and utilize the whole field. An athlete on the diamond, his positional versatility will likely help aid his future prospect status”.

We're thankful for the POTW submissions we received from the coaches across the state. The players who garnered POTW consideration will earn a place within Friday's Diamond Notes story, so be on the lookout for that by the end of this week.
