Today, we’ll address all the Illinois prospects who made the decision to announce their commitment throughout this past week. After a busy fall, the commitments continue to roll in, this week's list consists of mostly seniors who have made the decision to continue their athletic career at the next level.

2023

Calvin Proskey RHP / Oak Park-River Forest, IL / 2023

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA SANTA BARBARA 

5/20/21

Ranked No. 35 in the Illinois 2023 class. High-projectable 6-foot-2 155-pound right-handed pitcher; plenty of room for continued added strength. Was featured in the Week 3 Scout Blog thanks to an impressive performance out of the ‘pen. Has worked his way into a starting role. Looks to be one of the top uncommitted arms in the class. Clean/quick ¾ arm action. Smooth delivery, balanced leg-lift, tall and fall, shows advanced hip-shoulder-separation, high-front side, hides the baseball. Fastball comes out of the hand clean, sat 85-87 mph early on with arm-side life, settled in at 83-86 mph later in the game. Curveball showed tight 11/5 action in the 72-75 mph range, tunneled well off his fastball. Flashed a changeup at 79 mph with arm-side life and feel for the bottom of the zone. High-follow 2023 Prospect. 

2022

Kayden Althoff OF / RHP / Teutopolis , IL / 2022

LAKE LAND JC

(8/4/21)

Ranked No. 297 in IL. Projectable 6-foot-3. 175-pound frame. The RHH possesses a loose swing with a level path to the ball, showing the ability to repeat and registering a max exit velo of 91.6 mph. Althoff took reps from the outfield and showcased a strong/accurate arm, reaching up to 88 mph from a crow-hop.

SAINT XAVIER

Delivery: Tall and fall delivery, max effort, choppy rhythm, lands square, finishes upright.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm action, over-the-top slot.
FB: T86, 85-86 mph. Clean out of the hand, plays straight.
CB: 69-72 mph. Gradual 11/5 shape.
CH: 74-76 mph. Maintains arm speed, fade action.

Noah Chase SS / 3B / Illinois Valley Central, IL / 2022

MORTON JC

Positional Profile: SS/3B
Body: 5-11, 190-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Tall, balanced setup, short stride. Simple swing, shows strength, works slightly uphill, ball jumps off the barrel.
Power: 92.34 max exit velocity, averaged 82.02 mph. 298’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 84 mph. Short arm action, high 3/4 arm slot.
Defense: Fields from the center, working toward target, clean exchanges.
Run: 7.51 runner in the 60.

Matthew Derkacy SS / RHP / Peotone , IL / 2022

OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY

Positional Profile: SS
Body: 6-foot-0, 165-pounds. Lean, lanky frame.
Hit: RHH. Front foot starts closed, slight bat wrap, quick short stride.  Short path through the zone to contact.
Power: 74 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Arm: RH. INF - 68 mph. Long arm action, 3/4 slot.
Defense: Hands play under center, fields the ball with two hands.
Run: 8.09 runner in the 60. 

Michael Jeffers C / 2B / Stagg , IL / 2022

JOLIET JUNIOR COLLEGE

Positional Profile: C
Body: 5-9, 150-pounds. Athletic build.
Hit: SH. Balanced setup, open front foot, hands start lower from the left side, high elbow at load, quick toe-tap timing trigger.  Long and uphill bat path, consistently went towards right field, swings with intent.
Power: 81 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Arm: RH. C - 74 mph. Arm plays with some length in the back, finishes from an over-the-top slot.
Defense: 2.21-2.33 pop times. Upright stance, tall at gather, clean transfer, some length to release.
Run: 7.39 runner in the 60. 

Kyle McConachie OF / SS / Columbia, IL / 2022

Highland Community College (KS)

Positional Profile: OF/SS
 Body: 5-foot-8, 140-pounds.
 Hit: R. Simple, balance stance, hands rested on the shoulder, minimal load, long stride.  Short swing, flashed bat speed, line drive hitter to the pull side.
 Power: 85.13 max exit velocity, averaged 79.69 mph. 307’ max distance.
 Arm: R. INF - 75 mph. Short, loose arm action, high 3/4 slot.
 Defense: Infield: Plays through the baseball, fields out in front, footwork plays up the middle, clean exchange. Outfield: Controlled charge through the baseball, quick, clean exchange.
 Run: 7.20 runner in the 60. 

Hector Mendoza Jr. 2B / SS / Morton West, IL / 2022

MORTON JC

2/27/21

Positional Profile: 2B/SS
Body: 5-11, 165-pounds. Athletic frame.
Hit: RHH. Balanced, open stance, minimal pre-pitch load, short stride. Long level swing plane, gap-to-gap approach.
Power: 89.06 max exit velocity, averaged 68.69 mph. 311’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 75 mph. Short arm action, over-the-top arm slot.
Defense: Pre-pitch hop, short controlled footwork, fields low.
Run: 7.30 runner in the 60. 

Christopher Suchoski C / OF / Plainfield Central, IL / 2022

KANKAKEE CC

Positional Profile: C
Body: 5-9, 163-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Balanced setup, quick pre-pitch hand rhythm, bat wraps at load, leg kick trigger to footstrike.  Quick hands, short and level bat path, line drive approach, some feel for the barrel.
Power: 88 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Arm: RH. C - 72 mph. Short arm action, high 3/4 slot. Accurate throws to the bag.
Defense: 2.09-2.20 pop times. Balanced stance, lower half shuffles towards the left side of the bag, clean transfer to a quick release.
Run: 7.29 runner in the 60. 

Aydin Wright C / RHP / Thornwood , IL / 2022

FRONTIER CC

10/18/20

Hit: RHH. Quiet in the box, balanced setup, smooth load, steady leg lift trigger, controlled through contact.  Simple swing, loose hands, uphill bat path with some length through the zone, comfortable hitting the ball where it's pitched.
Power: 86 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Arm: RH. C - 77 mph. Short and quick arm circle comes out of an over-the-top slot.
Defense: 2.06-2.18 pop times. Starts tall out of the crouch, quick hand transfer and hip turn in tandem, feet play through the baseball towards the bag.
Run: 7.13 runner in the 60.
