Jimmy NixonA little less than a month remains until PBR Pennsylvania's Elite Prospect Showcase on October 29th at Keystone State Baseball Academy in Manheim. Today, we continue a series of previews on prospects who will be in attendance, as we highlight Blackhawk uncommitted 2017 OF/RHP Jimmy Nixon.

The solidly built 6-foot-1, 190-pound OF/RHP impressed this August at the Northern Ohio Senior Games. Though he did not showcase his abilities off the mound he will at this event.

Nixon is an athletic player, with tools to work with. He showed well in the outfield during his defensive evaluation. The outfielder takes smooth strides, gaining good ground approaching the baseball. Nixon offers good arm strength, throwing with a clean arm action through a high ¾ slot. He reached a top velocity of 88 mph from the outfield.

The left-handed hitter starts his swing from a balanced base using a good, rhythmic weight shift with his lower half to his back leg to generate power. He has a fluid load with his hands moving to his back shoulder. Nixon swings with a level bat path through the zone, finishing with a one-handed follow through. He showed the ability to use both sides of the field during his round of batting practice. Nixon also displayed a good approach and balance in a game at bat, when he squared up a single to the left side of the field on a curveball. He recorded a top exit velocity of 91 mph and ran a 4.58 home to first base time.
