Committed Combine: Primary Outfielder Breakdown

On July, 22 committed players from all corners of the Commonwealth took part in our Committed combine. We continue our detailed breakdown of those players today with the outfielders:

Matthew Buchanan LHP / OF / Lebanon, VA / 2021

Buchanan is a Virginia commit and is is 6-1 with an athletic frame that has some strength present and some projection left to it. He hits from the left side from a balanced athletic stance, strides on line, smooth load back, quiet relaxed rhythm. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, slightly uphill swing path, showed a pull approach, some strength at contact and extension through the ball, exit velocity was 90. Ran a 7.27 60 yard dash.

Harrison Didawick OF / 1B / Western Branch , VA / 2022

Didawick is a Virginia commit and is 6-4 with a lankier athletic frame that has some strength present and a lot of projection left to it. He hits from the left side from a relaxed balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, short load down. Hips rotate completely with violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and very quick to the ball, uphill swing path, showed ability to use whole field with a pull preference and power present, some strength at contact with good extension through the ball, long levers, exit velocity was 97. In the outfield, gets behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands, clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, long arm action, position velocity was 85. Ran a 7.19 60 yard dash.

Vincent DiLeonardo OF / 1B / Fredericksburg Christian, VA / 2021

DiLeonardo is an Elon commit and is 6-1 with an athletic frame that has some strength present and some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, big leg kick stride on line, loads down and back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, quick to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, showed a pull approach with power present that way, strength at contact, exit velocity was 97. In the outfield, gets behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands, clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 79. Also took balls in the infield where his velocity was 81. Ran a 7.30 60 yard dash.

Caleb Grizzard LHP / OF / Cosby, VA / 2022

Grizzard is an Old Dominion commit and is 6-1 with a lankier athletic frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He hits from the left side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, smooth load back. Hips rotate completely and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, quick to the ball, uphill swing path, showed a pull approach with some power present and the chance to add more, strength at contact, exit velocity was 95. In the outfield, gets behind the ball and fields through it with soft hands, quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 84. Ran a 7.37 60 yard dash.

Chase Hustead RHP / OF / Hanover, VA / 2022

Hustead is a James Madison commit and is 5-11 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, smooth load back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, showed a good approach with some extra-base power present and the chance to add more, exit velocity was 88. In the outfield, gets behind the ball and fields through it with soft hands, clean exchange, throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 81. Ran a 7.01 60 yard dash.

Bryce Jones OF / OF / Cape Henry Collegiate , VA / 2021

Jones is an Old Dominion commit and is 5-11 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the left side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, strides on line, short load back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, showed a good approach working middle of the field with some extra-base power present to pull side and the chance to add more, exit velocity was 88. In the outfield, gets behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands, clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, long arm action, position velocity was 85. Ran a 6.89 60 yard dash.

Jaron McNeil-Ward OF / RHP / Dinwiddie , VA / 2021

McNeil-Ward is a Virginia Tech commit and is 6-2 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance, two-tap stride on line, short load back to a slight wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, uphill swing path, showed a pull approach with power present and plenty of loft in his swing, exit velocity was 96. Ran a 6.77 60 yard dash.
