This Wednesday, Bannerwood Park hosted an intruiging early-season matchup between Shorewood and #3 ranked O'Dea. Featuring several collegiate commits and other uncommitted talent, high level baseball was on display throughout the evening. Below are snippets from the game's standout players.

O'Dea & Shorewood (3.13.24)

O'Dea

'24 OF Davis Downer, Everett Community College Commit
The strong-bodied right hander paced the offense for O'Dea, going 3-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Starts in an open stance with high hands, longer barrel path through zone. Able to sit back on offspeed deliveries and hit to all fields. Makes the routine play as a corner OF. Should be a key offensive contributor to an O'Dea squad with high aspirations.

'25 OF Briggs Ellis, Uncommitted
Ellis looked the part of a prime breakout candidate for O'Dea this season. Compact frame with athleticism. Found hard contact all day. Narrow, open stance widens with long stride, stays on balance and in his lower half through contact. Finished 1-2 with a BB and a loud double on the day. Quick mover laterally with plus range in corner OF.

'24 SS/2B Isaiah Nolan, Bellevue College Commit
A twitchy athlete that can impact the game in a number of different ways. Swing starts with a high leg kick, hands flick at the ball and hits to all fields. Stayed aggressive in the zone, walking twice in a couple of quality at bats. Opportunistic baserunner with plus speed. Commanded the diamond at SS and made several key defensive plays, including a slick 6-3 double play. Ended the day 1-2 with a double, 2 walks, 2 stolen bases and 2 runs scored.

'24 RHP Patrick Galvin, Seattle University Commit
Long, lanky right-hander largely overpowered hitters in his short stint. Featured a FB with life that played up in the zone and a sharp-breaking slider. Smooth mover down the mound with late intent. Worked 2 innings, striking out 3, walking 2 and not giving up a hit.

'24 3B/RHP Vaughn Lowe, Tacoma Community College Commit
The medium-framed senior had an impact across the game, finishing 1-1 with 2 BB's at the plate, playing a strong 3B, and closing the game with a scoreless frame on the mound. Swing features an upright posture throughout with a long finish. Plays loose and with confidence in field. Filled up the zone closing on the mound, mixing in a FB and breaking ball in all counts from a compact arm slot.

Shorewood

'26 SS/2B Kanata Barber, Uncommitted
One of the most impressive hit tools in the middle of the Shorewood order. LH hitter with controlled movements at the plate. Tall posture, can produce loft to all fields with swing. Finished the day 1-1 with 2 BB's. Smooth mover at second base with soft hands at field point. An underclassman to watch.

'25 OF/RHP Joey Facilla, Uncommitted
Another promising bat in what was a slower day for the Shorewood offense. Compact swing from RH side with short hand path to contact. Some pull power with medium frame. Finished 1-3 on the day with hard contact. Manned CF for the Stormray's. Short strider with direct routes in field.

'26 RHP/1B Aaron James, Uncommitted
Tall, lanky RH kept the O'Dea offense hitless in his 2 innings of work. Funky arm action, releases from a low 3/4 slot with a cross-body follow. Kept hitters off balance with sink on FB paired with a tight slider. Final line: 2 innings, no hits, 3 K's, 3 walks.
