On Saturday, Sept. 23, Prep Baseball Report is hosting its inaugural High School All-American Game at American Family Field, home of the Milwaukee Brewers. The unique event will feature the nation’s top high school seniors who are set to battle against a roster of the country’s best juniors in Class of 2024 vs. Class of 2025 action, giving pro scouts a unique look at current and future draft classes.

We’ve begun to unveil the event’s participants on our social media channels, and we’ll spotlight those players more closely on our site, too, highlighting past performances and scouting reports from the live looks we’ve gathered on this gifted group throughout the years.

We're highlighting senior shortstop J.D. Dix next, a Milwaukee-area prep product who's been the No. 1-ranked player in his home state since PBR Wisconsin first published its Class of 2024 rankings. Wisconsin has seen a steady stream of shortstops emerge from the state over the last six or seven years, especially, and Dix has a chance to be the most impressive of that crop.

Prep Baseball Report's VP of Scouting, Shooter Hunt, published a piece of analysis from his trip out to the PDP League earlier this summer, and he had this to say regarding his first look at the Alabama recruit of 2023:

"At the plate, the switch-hitter looked a grade better from the left side with more fluidity and better barrel control. Settling into an athletic base from both sides, a short stride allows the hands to take minor separation before generating impressive bat speed through the zone. Moving with ease from the left side, Dix turned the barrel with some authority in showcasing some power potential to all fields including the ability to change planes and hit to all fields... Just coming back from an arm injury that kept him off of shortstop for much of the spring, the arm strength was clearly not there (yet) in workouts, but it provided no ill effects with regards to the glove. Twitchy with the leather with innate ability for finding the right spot in the mitt even when balls took tough hops, the natural instincts seen in other elite prep shortstops is clearly present in the Wisconsin native, and there is an ease, yet intensity, to the way that he goes about his business on the defensive side of the ball."
