Top 10 Stories of 2017: No. 10 PBR and D1Baseball.com Announce Partnership

Steve Nielsen
Scouting Supervisor - Wisconsin/Illinois

Over the next few weeks we will close out 2017 by counting down the Top 10 stories and profiles of the calendar year. Our top ten stories will take a look at some of the highlights at Prep Baseball Report through the lens of the Badger State, including title runs, top prospects, newsworthy milestones and more.

One of the top stories of the year in PBR news was the announcement of our partnership with D1Baseball, arguably the most well-respected news outlet of NCAA Division I baseball. The partnership was big news for us here at PBR, and will ultimately bring you, the reader, a more comprehensive coverage of amateur baseball which will include the continuation of prospect coverage into their college years, as well as all of the current content that both sites provide.

Here's a look at our press release when the news broke back in October:

D1BASEBALL.COM AND PBR ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP

D1Baseball.com and Prep Baseball Report are proud to announce a partnership that aligns two leading powers in the amateur baseball industry to bring coaches, scouts, players and fans alike the ultimate online experience.

D1Baseball.com is your home for college baseball online, while Prep Baseball Report, behind its boots-on-the-ground scouting staff, serves as a comprehensive hub for original content focusing on high school baseball, prospect rankings, events and more. In essence, the partnership serves as a bridge between two important levels of baseball, while also creating more opportunities for readers to follow top prospects from the time they’re in high school through their years on college campuses.

”We have respected Sean the team at PBR for years, and recently have gotten to know them all better,” said Kyle Peterson, President of D1Baseball.com. “They think the way we think and continually drive to make the amateur game more accessible. This partnership makes us both better and allows us at D1 to better serve our clients.  We are thrilled with the announcement today and the combined growth that will come from this arrangement.”

D1Baseball and PBR will work together to generate more interest in the game at the high school and collegiate levels, while also giving readers a platform to subscribe to both services at a discounted rate. The partnership will include many prongs that, in turn, will revolutionize the way our game is covered at the amateur level.

“D1Baseball is the preeminent voice of college baseball,” said Prep Baseball Report President Sean Duncan. “By combining forces, our partnership will deliver unparalleled scouting, content and overall amateur baseball coverage for all levels of fans, recruiters and scouts.”

 About D1Baseball.com

D1Baseball.com is college baseball’s home on the internet. Since its inception in 2003, the site has been the only place to find continuously updated scores, schedules and standings for every Division I team and conference, making it an indispensable resource for college baseball fans and insiders.

In January of 2015, D1Baseball.com was relaunched as a one-stop shop for college baseball. In addition to the scores and schedules that have long served as the backbone of the site, D1Baseball provides news, analysis and commentary from the sport’s most prominent writers: Kendall Rogers, Aaron Fitt, Mark Etheridge and Eric Sorenson, among others. ESPN’s lead college baseball analyst, former Stanford All-American Kyle Peterson, leads the team.
