Top 10 Profiles of 2021: No. 9 Noah Schultz

The top-ranked player in Illinois' 2022 class is Vanderbilt commit LHP Noah Schutlz (Oswego East), who has the No. 9 most-viewed profile of 2021. In November's Class of 2022 Rankings Update, Schultz leapt from No. 2 in the state to the top spot after a few stellar fall outings. The southpaw was lights out at the PBR Midwest Fall Championship in September and he maintained that momentum through the fall in front of the pro scouting community.
Standing at a staggering 6-foot-9, 230-pounds, Schultz looks as if he's almost standing on top of opposing hitters. With his extremely long frame, he shows the ability to easily repeat his delivery and pound the zone with three plus pitches. From a deceptive sidearm slot, Schultz runs his fastball up to 94 mph with minimal effort, working off what might be considered the best slider in the state and a newly added diving changeup. Schultz has proved himself on multiple occasions against elite competition, and is already considered to be one of the top prep LHPs eligible for the 2022 MLB Draft.
Schultz is one of the most intriguing and dominant players in the state, and we will see what comes of the 2022 season he'll be a part of one of the most electric one-two punches atop a rotation in IHSA history.

MLB PDP League – Schultz is long and lanky at a listed 6-foot-9, 220 pounds and makes for a tough at-bat with his sidearm slot and short arm action that makes the ball look like it comes out of his sleeve. His only baserunner in his first inning of work reached on an error while striking out two, but he ran into some traffic in his second after allowing a double, walk and bunt single to load the bases. He managed to pull a Houdini and escaped unscathed with three strikeouts, all on his slider. He returned for two more innings later in the week tossed two perfect innings, striking out three. Not only is his stuff touch to pick up, but the fastball sits in the low 90s, touching 94, with arm-side run, and his slider has flat, sweeping action at 76-78.
