Unsigned Junior Spotlight: OF Jack Cue

Our goal at Prep Baseball Report is to promote high school players, and give them the exposure they need to be able to play at the next level. With the 2020 high school season in limbo, we want to continue to be able to promote players, even when baseball is not being played. Over the last two months, we have been spotlighting several uncommitted seniors to help them get the exposure they need to play at the next level in 2021. This month, we will move on to uncommitted 2021's who will be heading into their senior summer.

Next up is uncommitted 2021 OF Jack Cue (Archbishop McCarthy). He has an athletic frame at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds and is a 6.6 runner. Cue was a standout at the 2019 Future Games and 2020 Preseason All-State. He ranks No. 102 in the PBR Florida Class of 2021 rankings.

Scouting Report

1/18/20

Future Games participant with loud tools, especially in the power/speed combo. When he’s on time, he can really do damage with high exit velocities in the mid 90s. Really athletic frame with strength throughout. Possesses base stealing speed and instincts. Has an above average arm in the outfield. Really talented prospect, some swing development away from true next level impact.

8/22/19

Projectable, athletic frame. One of the two super quick-handed outfielders on Team Florida. Lots of tools jump out at you with his plus athleticism including power, speed, outfield defense, and arm strength. 6.88 runner, has been as fast as 6.58 in the past. Has some present raw power in the bat that he showed in BP. More of a line drive, gap to gap guy in-game and barreled up balls throughout the week. Easy quickness in the hands. Defensively, the arm played at 87 mph (previous high was 84) with carry and good extension. 93 mph exit velocity.

6/30/19

Followed up a stand out ID performance the day before with another solid showing. The valuable speed and power combo is there, with plus hands at the plate. Still has room to get the back side through the ball more. Stuck to a line drive approach and tagged a hard single up the middle. Showed the well above average arm strength in-game, but was off target on his one attempt of an assist at the plate.

6/29/19

One of the big stand outs on the day with his speed and power combination. Opened eyes to start the day with a 6.58 60 yard dash and the highest OF arm velocity at 84. Actions in the OF can be cleaned up, but possesses above average athleticism. A little jumpy with the lower half to start his BP session, but slowed down and got in rhythm hitting several balls to the wall or over. Lightning-quick hands really stand out, notching 91 mph on his exit velocity. Big upside prospect.
