It's hard to believe but the start of the 2019 Maryland high school baseball season is almost here. Every week throughout the season we will release our Power 25, ranking the top twenty-five teams from across the Old Line State. Today we continue our Preseason Power 25 countdown by taking a look at our #4 team, the DeMatha Catholic Stags from Hyattsville, MD. Be sure to stay tuned as we release one team each weekday leading up to the release of our 2019 #1 Preseason Power 25 team on March 19th. Then, on March 20th our PBR Maryland staff will release our final preseason predictions for the upcoming 2019 season.

Season Snapshot

DeMatha came up just short from winning the WCAC Championship last season falling 6-4 in twelve innings to St. John's. The Stags are loaded with a ton of talent again and will look to avenge that loss to the Cadets in 2019. Seniors C/1B Clark Burroughs (College of Charleston), 1B Jack Silder (Harford CC), and Chase Crosby (NOVA Southeastern), and INF Khalil Brown return alongside a sensational junior class highlighted by OF/RHP Alex Greene (Virginia), C Jack Bulger (Vanderbilt), and C Blake Badman (Virginia), and OF/LHP Jake Maske.

Between the arms and bats mentioned above, DeMatha should be a fun team to watch and follow this season under 12th year head coach Sean O'Connor. Look for them to make a run at snapping St. John’s streak of five consecutive WCAC titles in 2019.
