The Best of the Kenosha I.D.: Austin Glidden

On Saturday, Jan. 25, the PBR Wisconsin team will host its first showcase of the 2020 season at the Fielder’s Choice Training Facility in Kenosha, Wis., for the annual Kenosha Preseason I.D. showcase.

Throughout this week, we’re highlighting some of this showcase’s top performers over the last few years. Next up in the series is RHP/INF Austin Glidden (Westosha Central, 2019), who’s currently a freshman at Illinois-Springfield. Glidden starred at a couple Kenosha Preseason events over the years, and his showings at preseason events like tomorrow’s helped him earn an invite to the prestigious PBR Future Games event as a member of Team Wisconsin. He’s a high-level athlete who decided to commit to Prairie Stars, one of the top Division-II programs in the country.

7/11/18 - Verbally committed to Illinois Springfield.

5/23/18 - Uncommitted junior. 6-foot-1, 160-pound right-handed pitcher, loose wiry frame. Toe lift to top of delivery, squared balanced finish. Arm plays out of high ¾ slot. Fastball showed arm side action, 81-84 mph early on, consistent control for two innings. Curevball has 11/5 shape, 72-75 mph, ability to throw for strikes

1.27.18 - 6-foot-1, 160-pound two-way player, lean wiry athlete. Delivery repeats and works on time, in line, lands square. Arm action is loose and quick, high ¾ slot, throws everything with arm speed. Fastball has slight arm side run, control of the zone at 83-85 mph, Curveball is sharp with swing and miss type bite, aggressive arm speed, advanced feel, 72-73 mph. Changeup sinks, with feel, 77-81 mph. Plus arm strength across the infield, 91 mph. Plays through the baseball with long exchange, athletic and shows body control. Right-handed hitter, open stance, short stride, good balance. Loos athletic hands, line drive gap to gap type. 95 mph exit velocity from the tee. 4.26 runner down the line.

2017 PBR Future Games - 6-foot-1, 145-pound right-handed pitcher, lean athletic frame. Repeatable delivery, works directionally. Clean arm action from high ¾ slot, loose, scap pinch load. Fastball topped at 84 mph, sat 80-82 mph, showed arm side action. Feel for breaking ball, 67-69 mph. Struck out three in two innings of work.

1/28/17 - Wiry loose frame, 6-foot-1, 145-pound two-way player, projectable build. Projects best on the mound, tall and fall delivery, athletically smooth down the hill, works on line, squared landing, athletic finish. Showed poise and feel on the mound. Arm action is loose and quick, high ¾ slot, easy effort. Fastball played with lively arm side run, showed feel for the zone, 81-83 mph. Curveball has sharp 12/6 action, showed control in the zone, 68-69 mph. Good feel for changeup, fading action, thrown near fastball arm speed, 74-76 mph. Right-handed hitter, slightly open stance, short stride, tall upright finish. Line drive contact with some opposite field tendency. 86 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively arm played just as well as on the mound, 85 mph across the diamond. Good body control, athletic defender, soft hands. 4.50 runner down the line.
